Founded in 1982 by documentary filmmaker Pierre Sauvage and named in honor of a unique haven of rescue during the Holocaust—Le Chambon-sur-Lignon in the mountains of Nazi-occupied France—the Chambon Foundation explores and communicates, notably in documentaries, the necessary lessons of hope intertwined with the Holocaust's unavoidable lessons of despair.
